Formerly it was known as Orient Electricals, and in April 2014 it changed its name to Orient Electric.[2] It manufactures and export fans, lighting products and consumer appliances.[6] It exports to over 30 countries and has retail footprint in over 1 lakh (100,000) retail outlets with 3,500 dealers and distributors within India.[7] Their manufacturing facilities are based in Faridabad and Kolkata and they have 153 authorized service centres across the country.[8] Orient Electric has been ranked amongst the top 20 brands in India across all categories in a poll conducted by Superbrands India among 17,000 consumers and marketing professionals.
