Orient Electric is an Indian consumer electrical equipments manufacturing company based in New Delhi.[5] It is a part of the Orient Paper & Industries (BSE: 502420), and which itself is a subsidiary of the $1.6 billion CK Birla Group. Formerly it was known as Orient Electricals, and in April 2014 it changed its name to Orient Electric.[2] It manufactures and export fans, lighting products and consumer appliances.[6]
It exports to over 30 countries and has retail footprint in over 1 lakh (100,000) retail outlets with 3,500 dealers and distributors within India.[7] Their manufacturing facilities are based in Faridabad and Kolkata and they have 153 authorized service centres across the country.[8]
Orient Electric has been ranked amongst the top 20 brands in India across all categories in a poll conducted by Superbrands India among 17,000 consumers and marketing professionals. It has been awarded with the Superbrand status for fans for 2014–15.[8]
